It's easy to laugh but making someone laugh is really challenging. It's sensitive as well, as a few inappropriate words may hurt someone's sentiments. We are referring to the role of a standup comedian which seems very simple but the efforts behind spreading happiness are much wider than seen on the stage. Today in ‘Talk Of The Town,’ we have Nitin Desai, a standup comedian who has played comedy roles in the mainstream cinema close to various lead actors.
Nitin Desai started acting right from the age of 18. His very first act as a standup comedian was in his very own college Mithibai. He then pursued a few Gujarati plays that include Suryavanshi, Sanket with Siddharth Randeria, Aflatoon etc.
He has also done many Gujarati serials like Manek chowk na manilal, Sudi Bachhe Shantilal, Hass Bhai Hass, Chagan Magan Jason’s (played lead role of Chagan), and many more.
Have done many Bollywood movies prominent amongst which are Rangeela with Aamir Khan, Daud with Sanjay Dutt, Chup Chup Ke with Rajpal Yadav, Paresh Rawal and Shahid Kapur, Khatta Meetha with Johnny Lever and Akshay Kumar.
You have been a senior actor in the Indian Cinema but apart from your acting career what is that we should know more about you.
Apart from acting in movies I’m a standup comedian, writer, and have published 3 books and along with that I’m also a cricket commentator and have YouTube channel Nitin Desai Na Sathware and also, I’m a recording and dubbing artist. I am socially attached with BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha.
You have worked with various reputed artist. Which is your memorable role?
Each role is memorable for me. Especially in Tarak Mehta ka Ulta Chashma the role of Popatlal's Editor. And also, Bakulbhais lead role in Bakulbhai Bagdi Gaya a gujarati play. There is also saying in Gujarati, "Kalakar kyarei naano nathee hato nanu to hoi che Anu Patra imran role." (No actor is small he may have role which may be small, but the efforts remain the same.)
What are your plans to do in coming years?
My future plans are, Haswu che hasawu che (means I want to laugh and make people laugh) Anand karawo che (want to spread happiness) with full support of my wife Varsha Desai. My intention is to grow my you tube channel, 'Nitin Desai na Sathvare.' And also, my motto is what my friend Johnny Lever told me, "Jo Aata Hai Woh Hi Karna." (Do what you know)
We would like to know a lot your contribution towards Indian culture and spirituality.
